2023 Adjudicators

Gordon Waters has worked for School District #83, North Okanagan Shuswap for 30 years,  over 25 years as Supervisor of Music Instruction responsible for  Music programs in 24 schools with 21 staff teaching music K-12. Mr. Waters has taught Concert Band at all levels, Junior and Senior Jazz Band, Senior Jazz Combos and String Orchestra.  Mr. Waters has toured to Russia (USSR) 1986, China 1988, and Hawaii 1990 with various school groups.  His groups have also been regular performers at Music fest Canada.

Mr. Waters has adjudicated at the Cranbrook Music Festival, Kamloops High Country Music Festival,  Okanagan Concert Band festival and The Shuswap Music Festival.

He has played in the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, local Jazz/Swing/Dixie groups and the Slide Rules Trombone quartet.

Mr. Waters is also a past conductor of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra.

In 2004 Mr. Waters received the “ Professional Music educator Award” from the British Columbia Music Teachers Association.

Andrea Case is co-founder and cellist of the Lily String Quartet, a group that has completed multiple tours across Canada, has performed for CBC Radio 2 and released a jazz CD with the award-winning Hutchinson Andrew Trio. She records in multiple genres including pop/folk, jazz and classical. Andrea has more than 20 years of teaching experience in Calgary and Toronto. She adjudicates regularly at festivals throughout Alberta and British Columbia and has played with orchestras in Canada, Asia and Europe. She is an Artistic Director of Calgary’s Kensington Sinfonia and performs regularly with this group along with baroque ensemble String Theory Music Collective and Lily String Quartet.

George “Geordie” Roberts is a graduate of the School of Music UBC and the Vancouver Academy of Music where he was privileged to study under Phyllis Mailing. A member of the Vancouver Chamber Choir, he is a frequent soloist in concert and on recordings. He has adjudicated music festivals from Victoria to Winnipeg, and has facilitated choral workshops throughout BC. His solo career has included engagements with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, Early Music Vancouver, Festival Vancouver, Trinity Western University, the Vancouver Symphony, and many community organizations in the Lower Mainland. For 28 summers, George has been the vocal instructor at the West Coast Family Music Festival, offering group instruction in vocal technique, song interpretation and diction for singers. He is an instructor in the School of Performing Arts at Capilano University and the Co-ordinator of Music at Highlands United Church, North Vancouver. He occasionally presents solo recitals and is highly regarded for his ease of production and expressive singing.  Originally from Enderby, Geordie makes his home in North Vancouver with his wife, Frances.

Linda Kundert holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern California. She has an Associate Teacher’s Diploma from Mount Royal University and an ARCT Teacher’s Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (RCM). Her major teachers were: Willard Schultz, Charles Foreman, Priscilla King, Peter Turner, James Bonn, Adam Wibrowski, Donald Bell, Dr. Marienne Uszler and Dr. Jean Barr. Ms. Kundert is a successful independent studio teacher, RCM senior examiner, Frederick Harris editor & reviewer, festival adjudicator, collaborative artist, and she is a master class and workshop clinician. She is the Co-Founder, President & Artistic Director of Cassa Musical Arts, which celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2018. 

Ms. Kundert was honoured with the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association (ARMTA) Recognition Award in 2006, was Chair of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association (CFMTA) “Peak Performance” Conference and Celebration held in Calgary in 2005, and in 2011 was presented with the CFMTA Hugheen Ferguson Distinguished Teacher Award. Ms. Kundert was also honoured with the City of Calgary 2015 Community Achievement in the Arts Award, and was awarded Teacher of Distinction by the RCM in 2016. She is currently a piano instructor at Mount Royal University and teaches from her home studio in Okotoks, in-person and online. Her students continue to receive many awards and scholarships in both performance and composition. Ms. Kundert loves to teach; she has nurtured many students of all ages and levels. With her guidance, more than 40 students have achieved their ARCT and Licentiate diplomas. For fun, she enjoys riding her horses, Leo and Caity, and she plays competitive softball.
